Artist Comment: I got heavy into interplay and logic with this. I started limiting the colors to give a certain balance, then I added in a few colors here or there to give special significance to them. I used perspective and design implication to give rhythm, and I used design interplay to infer certain relationships that go beyond just sensual pleasure. I appreciate how blended paint frees multiple universal interest points, but I was never satisfied with that, and I want to use the paint to capture human thought, while also using the quality of the paint. It was never okay to me to be just abstract. Abstraction is the lazy place for artists who don't respect technical discipline, but, abstraction in itself should not be delegitimized because it is the default lazy position. The way to respect abstract art is to show that you can articulate clearly, but, you choose to be abstract when you want. That is what I try to do.
